An A/C Service usually takes about an hour in total.
So what do we do in a A/C Service?
- Step 1 - We inspect the system for any signs of damage/wear before starting, we will also ask a few questions and if the car has hit any animals or objects in the road recently.
- Step 2 - We check to see if there is any pressure in the system, if there is no pressure then we will need to do a Nitrogen test to check there are no leaks, if it passes we can move on.
- Step 3 - We then connect our A/C machine to your High and Low Pressure A/C ports.
- Step 4 - The A/C machine will recover any old refrigerant and recycle it, as well as any oil that needs replacing.
- Step 5 - The machine will then totally evacuate all moisture from the A/C system, this will help protect seals and your compressor for damage or extended wear.
- Step 6 - Vacuum leak detection, the machine will pull a full vacuum on your A/C system this will allow us to know if there are any leaks in a vacuum state.
- Step 7 - Leak down test, once a full vacuum test has been completed the system will operate a leak down test to make sure the A/C system can hold a vacuum without any aid from the machine.
- Step 8 - We will then inject UV dye into the system and inject fresh oil too.
- Step 9 - We will then regas the A/C system to OEM spec.
- Step 10 - Physical check to to see if the A/C system is blowing cold as per OEM specs and handover to customer.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY A/C SERVICED?
Usually a car's A/C system is not even thought about until it's too late (i.e it doesn't work when you want it), but as with all mechanical systems it does need to have some maintenance. For instance there is oil in the system which over time can get dirty/contaminated, as well as a build up of moisture which can cause the system to stop working, or worse a major A/C component failure. Really then in order to keep your car's A/C system working efficiently and effectively, its an idea to service the system at least once every couple of years, this will keep your A/C system working in tip top condition and working when you need it.
